Obesity, defined as excessive or abnormal fat accumulation that threatens the health of individuals, has reached a global epidemic level. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 billion people in the World are classified as obese, and it is predicted that this number will increase by 167 million in 2025. In medical terms, obesity is defined as the accumulation of fat tissue in the body above normal levels.

Although there is no precise method to determine the exact fat percentage in the body, the commonly used calculation formula is based on the Body Mass Index. Individuals with a body mass index value of 30 and above are considered obese, and those with a body mass index value of 40 and above have a very serious health risk and classified as morbid obese.

Obesity treatment methods may include different combinations of treatment options: diet, exercise, medical treatment, surgical treatment.
